  • Hey. This thing still works.

At the moment I'm studying for the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) that I start submitting stuff for next month. That is in addition to the tests that I'm taking regularly. The PLA differs from all of the other stuff I've been working on in that you have to document how you learned the material, there's no test or course to take. The whole process is frying the little gray cells to the point of no return.
    But it's all fun.
Anyway, I've reached the 90 credit mark and am still on schedule to graduate in the spring. After that...... No Idea.

Thankfully God knows and He will direct me in the best path to take.

  • Summer is coming to an end once again.

This Summer has been  a good one at our house, God has blessed us abundantly. The weeks with Zack home have been really nice, and I'm getting used to my new job at Office Max. Homeschool starts back up for the guys pretty quick, as Zack will be going back to Taiwan on Monday.

My college work begins soon, so I'm pretty excited about that:) I will be going for a Computer Information Systems degree from Thomas Edison State University. This fall I will start taking Clep tests under the direction of my coach at College Plus, a company that specializes in helping students finish college much faster than traditionally. Hopefully I will have my Bachelors in two years:)

I've been reading a lot in John recently, and it has become my favorite book of the Bible. For now anyway:) I enjoy the poetry of it and the way it tells about the life of Christ. It is also a big help in alowing God to put me where he wants me and not where I want me. As always Jesus demonstrates that quite well. Anyway, all for now.

War of the Worlds: Original Radio Broadcast

In the early years of the 20th century...

"The War of the Worlds" by H. G. Wells was dramatized by the Mercury Radio Theatre with host Orson Wells playing the part of the astronomer. The Wisconsin born radio host started out the piece with the first couple of lines from the H. G. Wells classic. Then he "reflected back," to the fateful night when everything had been normal.

    They cut to music playing....

Anyone who tuned in to listen to the broadcast after this point wouldn't have had a clue that the world was not under attack by some strange power until at least eighteen minutes later. If they didn't catch the fact that the events twenty minutes later in the events of the story would have taken place several hours later, they wouldn't have found out that it was a dramatization and would have thought that the world was really under attack until the break at forty minutes.

People panicked. Some even committed suicide. But a larger number of people volunteered their services to help fight off the attacking forces. Thankfully, that October thirty-first the only weird monsters to fight off were pranksters and trick-or-treaters.

My question,-What do you think you would have done if you saw/heard something like "War of the Worlds" on the news? Would you panic or would you volunteer to help out? I'm hoping I would do the latter.

Goodnight, and God bless you all.

Not by might nor by power but by God's Holy Spirit.

Just got back from a wonderful action packed weekend down south... The festival went well, and even though I still wasn't able to keep up with the orchestra pieces most of the time I still had a blast playing Russian symphony music:) We camped in the dorms this year, which contributed to the >five hours of sleep/night. Played Kemps with some random people, and some not so random people. (No, it's not the cows, it's a card game apparently)
Maybe I'll post some pictures later...
Thanks to Johnson's for letting us stay at your place, we all enjoyed the time immensely. Not to mention I learned how to play Boggle and Taboo....

    Now back to "normal."

    Good night and God Bless.

    Happy New Years

2007 was a full year for our family. Here is the low down of my big activities this year...

    Great Lakes Music Festival.
We gather for yet another short time in Watertown, Wisconsin for a weekend filled with practicing and fun. Looking forward to the next one.

    Trip to Taiwan
Three weeks of visiting my cool English teaching brothers in a tropical climate with Mom...Not to mention getting to meet a couple thousand of the cutest kids in the world:) This started my study of the Chinese language.

    Prayer Conference.
It was a time of getting away with God and learning to sit in His presence. The teaching that Jim Logan and Mike Davis gave was rich and powerful.

    Working at Country Wireless
A couple of months of computer troubleshooting, walking around on roofs with a laptop, stuff like that...

    Working at Northwoods Conference Center
A couple of packed weeks for Ethan and I as we did everything from roofing to cleaning rooms. Learned that to start a camp fire in a hurry you just use a blow torch and it does the job just nicely.

    Nate and Andrea's Wedding.
One short afternoon made the family pictures we've taken for the past twelve years outdated. Congrats again brother:)

    Taiwan Team Visits.
Soccer in the rain, need I say more?

    The Basic Seminar.
It was good to finally take the Basic Seminar, even Mr Gothard wondered why it had taken this long for me to take it, being in ATI my whole life...  It was really good and I was admonished to change my walk with God a good  deal though it.

    Journey to the Heart.
Speaking of change in my walk with God. Journey to the Heart was a time of reflecting on my walk with God and rooting out competing affections. Probably the most infuentail ten days of my life.

    November 17th.
I am now 18 years old.

    New Years.
One Year ends, another begins. God's precious gift of time passes by...
What will we trade it for?

God's richest blessings as you begin your new year.

My life has just been flying by. But as I start journaling more (thanks Mr. Lang for the encouragement), I might find more to write about. The major thing that happened was Journey to the Heart. For those who don't know, it is a 10 day "Journey" put on by IBLP that focuses on Heart conditions, and having a closer walk with God. The week was eventful. We got to meet some Romanian police officials, go to the Pacific Garden Mission, take two 8 hour bus rides, go street witnessing, experience one accord with 14 other guys (really neat), and most importantly, deepen our relationships with God. God showed me a lot during that time, how I had placed more value on a lot of different things than I was placing on Him. We experienced true fellowship with God and each other. It is definitely worth the money...I would encourage everybody I know who can to take a Journey to the Heart and see what God does. I guess the verses that stood out to me were mostly in Psalm 119. I'm thinking of memorizing it once I get done with the stuff I'm working on. We also did a lot of blessing, a lot of confessing our faults to God and each other, and praying as a group.

  • Ooh, time to take my pills.

#EDIT- Happy Anniversary to Mom and Dad, they just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary August 27th. #

A good number of things have happened since my last update. Ethan and I are back home, and have been for quite some time. I had my upper braces put in about a month ago, and Wednesday I had all four wisdom teeth out. So the last couple of days have been filled with ice cream (until I couldn't take anymore, which actually wasn't long) lots of water, and lying in bed all day. If it weren't for the aching jaw, it would be perfect. And maybe if it would warm up by 30 or so degrees.

We started school a couple of weeks ago, and it has been going well. This year we are starting out in the morning with the hardest subjects and moving to the easier ones. So I start with math, and end with Chinese. And how is that coming? Well, "Wo hui shou yidiandian hanyu." This site is becoming one I use a lot, it isn't perfect, but at least it's better than bablefish... http://labs.chinesepod.com/dictionary

Tuesday Ethan took a practice SAT, and Sarah and I took practice ACT's this week. I finished with a 26 over all, those things never give you enough time... By the end of the test I was so brain dead that I think I got a 20 on the science... I did get a 32 on the grammar, the one score that showed some promise:)

Anyway, Nate and Andrea are living in Watertown, Joel's at Maranatha, and Zack's in Taiwan teaching. So it's just the Remnant left at home. hmm. Maybe we should start a band, does anyone know if that name has been used?

    Goodnight and God bless .

  • Boy It was a hot day, especially on the Sugar Shack roof!!

I'm sitting at a desk in the main office at Northwoods Conference Center. We're waiting for the three sets of Journey to the Heart to get out off the Dining room so we can eat. Today I worked on the phone, Internet, and Radio systems. And then I joined the rest of the guys on the sugar shack roof replacing rotten wood shakes with asphalt shingles. Anyway, got to go, the Journeys just went back to their rooms and dinner awaits:)

About Me

  • A follower of Jesus Christ. Ever since I can remember I have had a fascination with computers, Learning how they work, and how to make them run better and faster is one of my goals:) No I'm not a geek, that may come later. Using music to glorify God is a big part of my life.
